NYC Mayor: Eric Adams, a pro-gun, pro-police Dem has a strong likelihood of winning...

…on the backs of working class African Americans who seem driven more by “crime reduction” than by “defund the police” (DTP advocate Maya Wiley is at 10%, Diane Morales is at about 5%). My sense is that DTP is largely a youth-driven mantra; but they don’t vote reliably.

6. This is so myopic that it lends itself toward insignificance.

It’s also one of the most pathetic attacks on democrats I’ve ever seen.

7. Hard to say with ranked choice voting. Will he be popular enough as second or third choice?

He and Kathryn Gacia seem to have the most labor and media organization endorsements.

I'll be glad when June 22 happens and they stop broadcasting non-stop ads to 22 million people, of whom only 5.6 million are registered to vote in NYC.

Too bad the cable companies don't offer a service that cuts in NYC ads only in feeds to NYC subscribers. It's annoying to be showing them in NJ, CT, Long Island, Westchester, etc.

10. NYC is slightly more complicated than that.

When Adams was a police officer he was a part of black law enforcement groups that favors remming the system.

Supporters of "defund the police" say it's a justice issue for persons of color. But polling has shown that people of color overwhelmingly oppose defunding the police.

Check out this interview from Ritchie Torres

One of the theories of why Hispanic South Texas swung towards Trump is that some on the left talked about abolishing ICE and the border patrol. Obviously that's never going to happen. Pretty much every country in the world has a law-enforcement task force dedicated to enforcing its immigration laws. Many Latinos in that part of the country work for ICE or the border patrol. They might've believed the BS lies.

Jim Clyburn has data that shows the lies cost us house seats. It is why Biden outperformed Democrats down ballot. Midterm elections are traditionally bad for parties in the Whitehouse. To have a chance in 2022 we need to push back hard against any BS that Democrats support defunding the police.

He carries a gun because as a retired NYPD officer, he has that right. I would too if I were him. I will proudly be casting my vote for him.

12. "Brooklyn president tells off-duty cops to bring guns to church"
Tue Jun 8, 2021, 11:56 AM
Jun 2021
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams said Sunday that he plans to carry his gun to church — and encouraged off-duty cops to follow suit — in the wake of Saturday’s horrific synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh.

“I used to carry my gun all the time when I went to church,” the retired cop-turned-pol said at a press conference Sunday, according to video posted to social media. “If we have police officers standing in front of churches, then we can’t say it’s wrong for a police officer who’s off duty to be inside churches with a gun.

“If they’re leaving those firearms home, I now say to them: Stop leaving your firearm home. Do as I do. Bring your firearm to church.”

Police say Robert Bowers opened fire inside the Tree of Life Synagogue on Saturday morning, killing 11 congregants and injuring two other temple-goers, two cops and two SWAT team members.

13. I'll also point out...How Eric Adams, Mayoral Candidate, Mixed Money and Political Ambition
Tue Jun 8, 2021, 11:58 AM
Jun 2021
Eric Adams, the Brooklyn borough president, had begun making the rounds for a nascent mayoral campaign when he arrived at a small gathering in spring 2018.

The real estate developer David Schwartz had invited associates to meet Mr. Adams — and cut him a check — at his company’s Manhattan offices. Mr. Adams delivered a short stump speech, talking about his conversion to a plant-based diet and how as mayor he would ensure that schoolchildren no longer ate pizza that resembled cardboard, according to people who were there. He raised $20,000 that day, records show.

Mr. Schwartz’s company, Slate Property Group, had recently sought city permission to erect a tower in Downtown Brooklyn nearly twice as tall as zoning allowed. Six months after the fund-raiser, Mr. Adams endorsed Slate’s zoning change, despite objections from the local community board.

Mr. Adams, 60, a former police officer who is among the leading candidates in the June Democratic primary for mayor, has termed money the “enemy of politics” and called for complete public financing of campaigns. Yet his dealings with Mr. Schwartz offer but one example of how, across his 15 years in elected office, he has used government power to benefit donors and advance his political ambitions.
