(15,173 posts)That's another one on the scam list.
I always ask them if their mother knows they're crooks. That is, if I stay on the line that long.
Or even answer the phone in the first place.

(3,495 posts)breached. All the phone numbers calling had the same area code and first 3 numbers of my home number. Just the last 4 were different. I just answer and hang up.
If I get the type of call you did, I push 1 to talk to them, and when they answer I say Los Angeles Police Department Fraud Detection Unit, how can I help you? They usually hang up right away.

(38,449 posts)Over and over again I get them....one variation or another....Here is the total answer as to why we get them?______________________________________________________________________________
If they didn't work, we wouldn't get them....Like a very bad TV commercial that doesn't sell anything.
If it doesn't work, the company will not go to the trouble to make another and another...So we all
think these calls are so stupid and awful...Why do we keep getting them???
..."Because they work on some people"..........you don't think so?...Well the scammers
who make these calls know from experience that they work on..."some people".... so they
go to the trouble to make more, and more, and more of them....&..."MORE OF THEM"
________________________________________________________________________________
You still don't think so?....Do some research on this topic...scam calls....and you will find that
these calls have been going on for a very long time....(maybe decades)

(19,493 posts)Is that they probably work on those least able to afford being scammed.
I can't understand the moral code -- rather, lack of one -- that lets someone do such scamming.
