Joe Manchin's issues with the 'For the People' act

Has he stated what his problems with it are? What does he so stringently object too or is it just because Republicans don't like it? Democrats weren't a part of the slew of recent restrictive voting laws recently enacted or proposed. Its difficult to negotiate or even discuss with no clue of what the problems are.

With Manchin set against the For the People Act for reason that AFAIK he'd never made clear and McConnell setting himself up as a wall to the John Lewis act since its 'unnecessary' and Manchin, among others refuse to alter the filibuster there appears to be little room for voting rights legislation.

Like a little kid who won't eat what's on his dinner plate, e.g., spaghetti with red sauce because he doesn't like it but never tastes it. It doesn't look good.

3. I'm not aware of any problems he has with the bill other than it has no GOP support

I seen many interviews. I’ve read his op-ed. He doesn’t mention any objections on the content of the bill itself.

I mentioned on another post that Joe Manchin has a habit of seemingly putting the party in a box and not giving any idea on how to get out of that box. He says the only way he’d support a voting rights is if it’s bipartisan but when the other side doesn’t want a voting rights bill at all, then what? Do nothing?

projects for his state have been made to him by Biden/Schumer but I'm starting to think he's on the Koch payroll as he's out obstructing McTurtle even.

He's costing the party big time with the mid-terms not that far off.

letter in support of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. This is a good start on protecting voting rights. Also, as I understand it, some parts of the For the People Act may run afoul of the Constitution.

7. S1 is virtually identical to S949, which Manchin co-sponsored in 2019

yet he has yet to explain why he would vote No on this legislation when he loved it enough to co-sponsor it two years ago.

I don't know why the press isn't asking him this simple question.
