In the 80s, fundies were obsessed with end-times theology. This is

the period of time when I was brought to church three times a week - twice on Sunday and every Wednesday. America was regarded as sodom, and congregants worked themselves into a frenzy about how their enemies would be punished.

After I left for college, the only times I was exposed to toxic Baptists and Pentecostals services was at funerals. I noticed by 2000 that they had started to merge nationalism with the core message of apocalypse. The merging of right-wing politics and evangelicals has been intensifying, apparently, based on the handful of funeral sermons I have sat through over the past ten years.

Now the churches operate as super PACs.
