Another Insurrectionist Spotlight on Chicago cop Karol ChwiesiukLink to tweet ?s=21 Ryan J. Reilly @ryanjreilly In addition to storming the Capitol, this Chicago Police officer texted the n-word and expressed astonishment there were "so many blacks” at the Capitol. He’s now on desk duty. @letsgomathias: Chicago Cop Arrested In Jan. 6 Attack Allegedly Texted ‘We Inside The Capital LMFAO’ huffpost.com https://t.co/u7dLev9VeJ emptywheel @emptywheel The arrest affidavit for Chicago cop Karol Chwiesiuk has a nice map of where he was on Jan 5, walking right up to the barriers still up protecting the Capitol. https://justice.gov/usao-dc/case-multi-defendant/file/1403441/download… ![]() ![]() Going back to the Chicago cop who got arrested today (for Jan 6, not JUST for being a Chicago cop), he appears to have confessed to have assaulted someone the night before the insurrection. ![]() emptywheel @emptywheel Now back to the cop. He apparently texted a buddy, "[N-word], don't snitch," which I guess is perfect Chicago cop-speak. One thing that's interesting about the route by which Chicago cop, Karol Chwiesiuk, drove to DC is that he went out of his way to get there, via Baltimore. ![]() ![]() emptywheel @emptywheel Not only is that out of the way, but it involves staying on the Pennsy Turnpike for longer than you need to, which no one in their right mind would As folks are noting, Chwiesiuk got a mass mail from Ali Alexander inviting him to the Stop the Steal rally--on the East side of the Capitol--at 10:46PM. ![]() emptywheel @emptywheel So BEFORE he got the standard invite to an event at the Capitol, he went to the Capitol to scope it out, including where the Proud Boys would gather and a side trip to down closer to where Capitol Police would be responding to bombs the next day. The bombs would have been placed, though, before he walked down by Longworth. He was at Longworth at 9:27, the bombs are believed to have been placed by 8:30. ![]() emptywheel @emptywheel Note, he may have made two detours, either on the way there or on the way back from the Capitol. ![]() He would have been sending pictures from where the Proud Boys mob would form the next day to three people around the time the Proud Boys were putting their plan together. https://justice.gov/usao-dc/case-multi-defendant/file/1377586/download… ![]() ![]() emptywheel @emptywheel Note, Zach Rehl, from Philly, arrived right about then too. But Philly isn't Harrisburg Also, the QUICK way to DC is 11 hours. This is, what, 10:20? ![]()

1. could be the bomber, or the one who planted the bombs
his physical stature as much as I can view, seems rather slight, like the guy in the hoodie who placed the bomb at the DNC Building if memory serves. I remember how it was a challenge to determine whether it was a male or female. It will be interesting to follow this particular suspect.

3. He is still a few blocks from where the bombs were planted.
It is amazing how much data is collected though.
Fuck it, lock him up and throw quay the key. Bold enough to wear a Chicago PD shirt while breaking the law and assaulting cops. Wow, so much for the thin blue line. |
