The two individuals were sharing a room on the Celebrity Millennium cruise ship
The guests are in isolation and are being monitored by the ship's medical team
Royal Caribbean said contact tracing was being carried out after the positive results, discovered during end-of-cruise testing three days before return to US

Not one cruise out of 100's. Not after a few weeks with no incidents.

THE VERY FIRST CRUISE HAD 2 COVID CASES!!

It's practically guaranteed that there will be positive cases, even with full vaccination, with a sample that large.

The point if the vaccine requirement is that those positive cases are not going to cause a bunch of dead oceangoers.

so the vaccine is presumably doing its job. All passengers also had to show a negative test before boarding, but could have a false negative or have gotten infected right before boarding, even being vaccinated.

That said, no way would I go on a petrie dish, I mean cruise, even with all vaccinated people. I still haven’t eaten inside a restaurant!

Way too early to venture openly in public setting with closed quarters for me...

Yes, the vaccine is doing it's job..the immune system has been programmed to attack the covid-19 virus if contracted...minimal symptoms and diminishes the viral load...one lives another day.

Eating a particular order in a particular restaurant has been on my COVID-19 bucket list since about day two.

:sigh: If I lived among sensible people, I'd be there by now.

They were vaccinated. Just that the vaccine is not a guaranty of immunity, just an implication of a lessened outcome - more survival. Lots of examples here.

Cruises and other mass containment scenarios are not ready for prime-time.

Awful, boring, snooty experience. My kid got sick and I got stuck in the tiny room with a puking kid for 2 days. That was not fun either but entire vibe was anything but the scenery. Blah....

new places and cultures.

Getting off of a boat for six hours to go and buy souvenirs at the local tourist trap doesn’t do it for me.

And I’ve seen those cabins. They’re like prison cells.

it was a pant load of fun I tell you!

We were out to see Alaska and most of the trip was a tour but they left you alone a lot to do what you wanted or you could do what they had planned. We did all kinds of stuff on our own and drove all over the place between stops on the very nice bus. Then the train was incredible over areas you could not even get to to see if not on the train. The cruise was only to see icebergs and whales but it did stop at a couple of places to pan for gold (lol) and touristy stuff. All in all the trip was great and because we rented a car and drove around a lot it did not seem so bad... but that boat. Ladies in furs yelling, "Mark, oh Mark! Please get a picture of me with the whales in the background!" I have some priceless stories however they do not belong here.
