I'm listening to this right now. It goes all the way back to the beginning of the US Senate and details every step and change that led us to the NON-functional state of the US Senate today. And of course, it was ALL (and still IS) about racism. If you were wondering whether to get this book, I'd recommend it. Not that my recommendations are worth anything but just IMO it's worth reading or listening to.
