Normally, Senator Brian Schatz is pretty chill on Twitter

But not this morning:

Brian Schatz
@brianschatz

If you cannot identify this as a manufactured controversy designed to give voice to racists and to intimidate people from describing racism accurately, quit the fact checking business. Anodyne language doesn’t make you more objective, it makes you a vector for bullshit.

@PolitiFact

Critical race theory is the new front in the Republican culture wars. It includes the idea of systemic racism, but is hard to define precisely, and it's unclear how much it shows up in the classroom. (+ link to bad politifact)

We lived on the same floor on Dominis St. in Honolulu. They were nice people and had their first child while they were living there. I've enjoyed watching his career develop.

As dog is my witness, I will endeavor never to use anodyne language again. (Not that I ever did as the string of shitty exes, shitty people and shitty jobs behind me attest.) Please join me in the pledge. Speak truth and challenge lies loudly.

Overall, it is mealy-mouthed and coming dangerously close to the line of both "whataboutism" and "both sides do it" horses_, if not completely over it.
