(68,313 posts)line? It reminds me of one family member who always had her "coffee mug" with her wherever she
went. It wasn't really funny; she needed it actually to survive. She was so far gone by that time that she couldn't go anywhere without that mug. At family get togethers she was always in the kitchen mixing drinks for everyone so she could continue drinking all day and evening when she would literally pass out. We loved her so much, she was so kind and generous and open hearted to every one. I miss her all the time.

Nothing to joke about anyway.

(68,313 posts)I read an interesting book when I went back to school for a Master's degree. It was called "The Alcoholic Republic" and it dealt with alcohol as the coping device of the people in our republic's early days. Work was usually extremely difficult physically. Our forbears coped with it by having their ale, lots of which was homemade. It wasn't until we got to some mechanical solutions to hard, physical labor that we were forced into change But since being under the influence was problematic once the age of mechanical devices had arrived, we needed to stop drinking. Accidents and loss of life was too high a price to pay. Along comes religion, the Great Awakening, which among other things made alcohol to be the source of a great evil. There were large revivals that sought to save our citizens from "demon rum."
My sister in law was highly productive. Her "coffee mug" kept her at a "maintenance level" all day. Of course, physically it was killing her and did.
Charles may or may not be an alcoholic, just as he may or may not suffer from any of a lot of other ailments.

(77,581 posts)I am not gay or a fashion person at all but is Jill wearing an English Burberry coat to meet the Queen? That simple gesture showed respect to both the Queen and England. It also made Elizabeth happy. Both Joe and Jill know how to dress an act.
BTW why is everybody happy? Trudeau and Merkle look happy. Now who isnt there? Boris Johnson still looks like a bag of wet kitty litter
. even from behind. Chuck looks like his gin and tonic is taking its toll.

(20,696 posts)They're all happy because of the people who aren't there.
When MF45 visited the UK he brought his entire low-life family with him. Visiting HRH Queen Elizabeth isnt a "+8". The white trash with cash 'worst family' was a total bummer for everyone in attendance.
So yeah, repairing the U.S. relationships in Europe with an actual President of the United States was a joyous event, and it was written across everyone's faces.

(20,696 posts)Or a wallet, for that matter. I doubt she's paid for anything in her entire life.
I'm not doubting you at all, BP, it just seems totally odd, that's all.

I've never seen her without it, and always in that same position on her arm. She probably sleeps with her arm crooked like that.

I can recall W's people trashing the Queen's garden and tRump being disrespectful to her, so it's great to see this reset. Her meeting President and Mrs. Obama was a bright one as well.
