In case you didnt think this guy was traitorous enough, he went on Russian TV where he allowed them to use him as propaganda ahead of Putins meeting with Biden, presenting him as the victim of a political persecution. #quisling

The looming summit between U.S. President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putinset to take place in Geneva on Wednesdayhas unleashed a flurry of threats from the Kremlins propaganda machine, and a promise of staunch resistance to American demands on everything from cyber attacks to human rights abuses.
It has also triggered another bizarre press strategy: The debut and glorification of an infamous Capitol rioter on Russian airwaves.
On Sunday, Russian state TV aired an interview with insurrectionist Richard Barnettnotoriously pictured with his feet up at on a desk in Nancy Pelosis office on Jan. 6and his attorney, Joseph McBride.
Barnett, a self-proclaimed white nationalist, was introduced as a colorful individual, the same expression Putin frequently uses to describe Trump. McBride welcomed Rossiya-1 special correspondent Valentin Bogdanov into his office and FaceTimed his client, who appeared cheerful and at ease at his Arkansas ranch, flashing a big smile and showing off his car collection.

(33,643 posts)He'd have been cracking rocks in a Siberian Gulag within 48 hours. ANd most of those 48 hours would've consisted of him getting the living shit beaten out of him.
Russia's fcking hypocrisy is breathtaking.
BTW, whatever Judge granted him release before the trial should be revoking it forthwith over this continued traitorous behavior

Judge did not immediately rule today on whether this accused Insurrectionist can travel to a car show 215 miles from home Friday.
Yes... a federal judge is being formally asked by this defendant for permission to go to a classic car show in Arkansas on Friday

Gonna take a long time to get thru these Jan 6 cases
Rich Barnett (man accused of putting feet on desk in Pelosi office, leaving vulgar note) is asking court permission to loosen his release conditions so he can attend this car show in Morrilton, Arkansas

(22,479 posts)I know enough to know I don't know about diplomacy but my true feeling is I'd like the US to completely ghost Russia and let them hang out to dry. But that's why Biden is president and not me.
But Putin actually still wants the US and Russia to jointly work on cybersecurity! (And last time Trump was very enthusiastic about it until our security officials shut it down) Maybe that would work if the US gave Russia a bunch of fake passwords and websites kind of like the FBI did recently. That might be funny.
From the article.......
"One item of continued interest to the Kremlin is an agreement on cybersecurity, championed by the Russians since the early 2000s. In 2017 and 2018, Putin proposed a joint Russian-American Cybersecurity Unit, an idea that was enthusiastically promoted by Trump until it prompted bipartisan backlash and was shot down by American national security officials."
