Freedom comes tomorrow. Can't wait!!!
Everything to know about California's reopening tomorrow, from capacity limits to the mask mandate
"When will I still have to wear a mask?
Starting June 15, California is updating its mask mandate to be different for vaccinated people and unvaccinated people.
Fully vaccinated people will be allowed to do pretty much everything they were doing before the pandemic without needing to wear a mask. That includes grocery shopping, going to the gym, drinking at a bar, seeing a movie or going to church.
There are just a few places where vaccinated people will still need to wear masks, including hospitals, prisons, homeless shelters, during travel (including air travel and mass transit) and while indoors at K-12 schools.
If you're not vaccinated, you'll still be required to wear a mask in all indoor public settings."

(9,998 posts)No it isn't.
If you think that Unvaccinated people will follow the new guidelines, and continue to wear masks, I've got a bridge over some swampland to sell you.
California is at 46% Fully Vaccinated. However, tomorrow, I expect that somewhere around 80% will be maskless. And that doesn't even account for the fact that many Vaccinated people, like myself, will be part of the 20% still wearing masks.
It's called the "Honor" system. Unfortunately plenty of Americans have NO HONOR.
It is what it is. I'll still be wearing an N95 mask when around groups of people, because I don't trust my fellow humans, and probably Never Will again.

(46,082 posts)I think I'll still wear a mask in a lot of places. When my church opens for inside services, I expect we may be asked to mask.
What I want to know is when can I sing in the choir again?

I made sure to buy some better masks, N95s and KN95s, to wear as I'm immune compromised.

(51,630 posts)"Youll still need a mask at work after Californias COVID reopening on June 15. Heres why...
California workers will still need to wear masks and practice social distancing at workplaces for at least a couple of weeks after Gov. Gavin Newsoms June 15 target to fully reopen the states economy.
A California state board on Wednesday withdrew proposed updates to its COVID workplace safety rule, meaning the current regulation which requires masks to be worn at all times indoors, as well as outdoors if less than six feet away from others will stay in effect for now. The proposed updates had called for relaxing masking and social distancing requirements and letting workers not wear masks indoors if everyone else around them is fully vaccinated."
The standards board of the states Division of Occupational Safety and Health, commonly called Cal-OSHA, will consider updating its rule again on June 17 to better align with the state and federal guidance. Any update to the rule, if voted on by the board, will go into effect around June 28."
This means that workers inside of stores as well as customers will need to be masked until June 28th when they reassess the situation.

(51,630 posts)"There has been a lot of back and forth on this question. Cal/OSHA first adopted a rule saying workers would need to wear a mask indoors unless every single employee in the room was vaccinated, but then tossed out those rules in a later meeting. Cal/OSHA said it would have more clarity following a meeting slated for June 17."
"On Monday, Newsom said the state will, "We'll be consistent with the (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's) guidelines."

(9,998 posts)I had purchased a box of Vented N95 masks early on, until they started being banned, since they're designed to protect yourself, rather than those around you.
So tomorrow, I'll begin wearing them again. They're much easier to breathe with, and don't fog up my glasses as much.

(34,092 posts)the restriction that unvaccinated people wear masks is meaningless.
We have to be better than that - at least until everyone is eligible to be vaccinated. We have 15% of the population who CANNOT yet be vaccinated.

(23,218 posts)Kids have yet to even be vaccinated not to mention the Delta (#B16172) variant ramping up.
I'll continue to mask up to protect myself as well as others around me.
