Misdemeanor pleas entered on the 1/6 insurrection.

The New York Times and the Washington Post are reporting that a Virginia couple entered pleas to a single count of trespass today. Apparently the two went into the Capitol rotunda and did nothing else. Their range of sentencing is 0 to 6 months. The US Attys made no recommendation as to sentencing. It will be up to the judge if they do any time at all.
Even more interesting the Times reported that a similarly situated woman is expected to enter a similar plea on Friday and has agreed to waive a presentence report. She will be sentenced on Friday. About 200 other misdemeanor defendants will be sweating that hearing out.

A Reagan appointee. You would think that defense lawyers did some strategizing and decided he would be the best shot for a walk. Waiving the presentence investigation is a pretty gutsy move. Likely what happens Friday will determine the fate of all the misdemeanor defendants. Most judges try to give similarly situated defendants similar results.
