Incarcerated Say Guards Beat Them At Illinois Prison

https://www.wbez.org/stories/out-of-sight/5f728c17-bf1a-49ac-9afa-5a5cd776685e

David Kerstein thought there must be a mistake. The prison warden told him that if he wanted to meet with prisoner Roger Latimer he had to be at Western Illinois Correctional Center by 7 a.m. He had driven five hours from a Chicago suburb. Now staff were telling him there was no record of a scheduled legal visit. Kerstein was furious. He argued with staff and, according to Kerstein, it took four hours until they agreed, with one condition: A guard would be watching the whole time.

Latimer was a prospective client who’d been convicted for possesing child pornography. Kerstein didn’t like the idea of a guard observing a legal visit. But, he’d driven through the night — he didn’t want to leave empty handed. So he agreed.

Immediately Kerstein could tell that may have been a bad idea. Latimer has autism. He was loud, seemingly unaware that he should keep his voice down if he didn’t want the guard to hear. And he seemed to have no filter. He kept telling Kerstein that guards there had severely beaten him. He said guards dragged him down the sidewalk between buildings and made him walk so fast he kept falling.

There’s a spot in the prison without security cameras, Latimer told him. A blind spot. And that’s where Latimer said they assaulted him.

The guards are only supposed to set up the situation and allow the other inmates to render the extra judicial punishment

I found this quote heartbreaking:

Latimer believes one of the reasons his complaints went ignored is because he was convicted for possessing child pornography — and many people automatically dismiss him. He also thinks he, and some of the other alleged victims, were brushed aside because they have developmental or psychiatric disabilities.

If people had listened, another man might not be dead.

I hope he gets beaten to death. Child rape causes a lifetime of suffering way worse than getting beat up in jail.

PTSD is something that tortures you for life. All that PTSD torture happens because one
fucking dark triad pervert could "get off".

I have no pity for child rapists,in fact I dispise them. I wish every child rapist/ molester was dead. Every single one of them. Can't get leniency and wreck someone's life from a grave.

Some people cannot be trusted as part of a community. Ever.

whether the guy beaten to death by prison employees ever had any history of child porn or assault, so I can't answer that. In any case, to me, this is not justice.

Than it is injustice.

Like I said I don't care if child rapists die.

But I do care if there is some kind of set up being done, and prison staff is in on it and someone other than a child molester gets hurt.

1. Child rape and sexual abuse/explotation is bad, inexcusable, a crime, and offenders should be incarcerated.
2. People incarcerated, regardless of their offense, should be afforded basic human rights.

Sorry, but your position is itself inexcusable. Period.

As a kid, teenager and adult in the psych hospital ,psych system
one molester stole chunks of my life, tore my mind to shreds

That pedophiles minutes of self serving "pleasure" gave me a life sentence of mental illness,as in cutting my own flesh to cope, trying to kill myself over and over, locked in solitary confinement for 9 months as "therapy",given drugs that have destroyed my health and body.
And much more..

People who get raped as children suffer thier entire lives because of these dangerous assholes.

But a monster must never be hurt in jail.
Molesters never stop harming kids. They never have a change of heart.

So when a parole board says let's the moleser out out they ruin more lives .

I guess trauma and preventing trauma by killing incurable child rapists don't mean shit compared to the poor molester's quality of life in jail. Monsters who get off on raping kids matter and they will never stop being a threat and destroyer of others lives..

Molesters deserve death to stop them. That way they'll hurt no one and won't ruin others lives and minds.. some people by thier actions forefiet thier lives.

But I guess it does not matter at all, think positive blah blah.
And how many molesters get out of jail only to hurt kids again.
More than you might think.
Republican party has a surprising amount of molesters in it's ranks and criminals too and all they get are wrist slaps.

It is scary how many child rapists and molesters that got caught ,get leniency on thier sentances and go on to get busted molesting again,

ruining more lives with the suffering that can last a lifetime.

I'm afraid that against my better judgment, I've underestimated the number of people who are in favor of this kind of punishment.

Of threads that catch my attention, I saw more posts resigned to, tolerating, praising or wishing for prison assault, rape and/or murder than you have had replies.

I cannot help but conclude that the majority, while may not 'favor' such extra judicial punishment, believe it is deserved in an eye for an eye kind of way. 'A person wouldn't be in prison if they weren't guilty'

There are a number of posters who have a positively medieval view of punishment, at least for certain criminals.

Our culture is so cruel and selfish. Some people are fine owning that. Some people are fine with it as long as it's a problem that "can't possibly be solved." None of it is justice. We can do better.
