"SNIP....

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) “says he will convene a meeting with all 11 Democratic members of the Budget Committee Wednesday to begin the process for passing a budget resolution,” The Hill reports.

“That would set the stage for passing a massive infrastructure investment bill with only Democratic votes after the August recess.”

The other one is pushing up dead daisies, and as far as I'm concerned the other one can't join him soon enough. They'll probably leave all their money to some punk-ass relative that's even worse than they were, if that's at all possible.

All 3 are selfishly abandoning the rest of the US taxpaying citizens just to showboat for their selfish 'reasons', whatever they may be.

Then the 3 need to be removed from the Dem Caucaus & replaced with 3 Republicans who surely see the benefit from the Bill, in their home States. Constituents matter.

Kick the self serving BSers out. Enough of this bullshit from the showboating losers

I think we have a shot at getting Mitt Romney on board and maybe Lisa Murkowski, and maybe even Susan Collins
I feel once they know it is going to pass anyway we could get as many as six or seven Republicans who are gonna want to take credit for the infrastructure jobs

Pay them off and then promote the crap out of it in their states. The Coke Bro’s are operating within the law from all appearances there just isn’t as large of a competing narrative.

Doing good works and then heavily promoting them is the winning strategy. It has to be consistent and ongoing. I often wish Soros was the sugar daddy the right makes him out to be(not that he doesn’t spend considerably).

Is a vote on something like this the majority of 100% of the Senate voting (100 votes)? Or would it pass with a majority of those present to vote?

Thank you for insight.

Only requires a bare majority, or 50 votes plus VP Harris.

if the Democrats could sway 2 to 3 of the Republicans to their side by privately telling them that if they do not get on board that their states will suffer a cut in federal monies.

but on the day of the vote, is just a quorum required or all members present to vote? It occurred to me if people on either side who don't want to vote and are absent, would it be voted on and passed by a certain number of senators present?

Even using budget rec. we still need 51 votes to get it passed. If 2 of the r's will vote on it, it might get passed, if manchin and sinema are absent or don't vote and procedure is followed.

Yes, a quorum is still needed, and a simple majority of only those present would work. Of course, the GOPQ wouldn’t let a vote like that happen without trying to sink it permanently via “No” votes. So, you can be sure they’ll all show up for a 51-50 vote.

I've wondered if its duration will match the pandemic recession so that the end points might better be flexible, but right now we're about to crash before the end of the year because of stim dropoff and flagging payrolls. I'm seeing lots of empty strip malls and town main streets where restaurants were in 2019, but today? No. Lights out. So yes we need stim that is good for jobs and not just for hedge fund managers!

It’s shocking how much is being spent in my area. It’s a very large area and damn near everything is packed. From restaurants and museums to electronic stores and malls.

It’s a sea of people spending money in this area. I promise you it’s not leftover stimulus. 🤣

You will spend two hours in a traffic jam just to get to Clearwater Beach. Even during the week restaurants are filled to capacity. You would think every day is Black Friday at Best Buy. Hotels are hosting events and are booming. Boat ramps have lines island parties are hopping.

Even our minor league baseball team drew in a crowd of over four thousand. It was a lot of fun, BTW.

Just today, 3 Repubs voted to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson to the DC Circuit. Murkowski, Colins and Graham all voted to confirm a judge, which is far more contentious than infrastructure.

Across the country hundreds, if not thousands of contractors are waiting to bid on an untold number of these jobs. Those same contractors will need to hire several or even dozens of people to fulfill the contract. They may need new equipment. Equipment suppliers will benefit. They may need to refurbish or repair existing equipment. Those mechanics will benefit. All of these people need to eat. Restaurants of all kinds will benefit. They will hire people and be able to offer higher wages. Work clothes will wear out or be damaged from work. Clothing stores will benefit. Tools and equipment will also have to be rented. Those that rent tools and equipment will benefit.

All this money will flow throughout the economy. Pair that with all the new, repaired and upgraded roads, bridges, tunnels and railroads along with technology upgrades and everything else included, we all benefit.

I sincerely hope they get it.
