"Federal takeover of elections"

I hear Republicans using this talking point as if this is a bad thing….I think it’s would be good for the federal government to have uniform standards on federal elections…I think it’s dumb that states have different rules on how to elect federal office holders

22 questions! happily supplied answers they won't like for every question. I have no problem with the federal government regulating elections, with the asshats messing with them in their states

they are welcome to do that on a different day. This would highlight how much states are straying from accepted federal standards. For instance, "Oh, I can vote by mail for President, but not for Governor".

They say they don't want federal control of elections, but they would love to have their voter suppression tactics practiced on a national level.

States' rights are way too much of a religion. Those rights may be described in a general way in the Constitution, but the concept has run amok.

They’re still using the talking points from Frank Luntz’s focus groups.

They can have separate voting laws for state elections.

But for federal elections the same laws should apply in every state for federal elections.

1) Automatic registration for every citizen. - can be based on drivers license registration and professional license registration.

2) All felons released would be eligible.

3) Action to remove active voters not removed due to death takes place only if they have not voted in the last four years that include 2 federal elections. Such action to only take place only during odd number years and not later than 4 months before November of that year.

4) A minimum of 2 weeks early voting and 8 hours daily based on population and voting sites. If sites are not accessible due to parking, hours, site capacity, and enough workers and machines assigned additional early voting to be required along with voting at home (mail). Polling sites must be assigned so they don't result in long waiting lines.

5) Allow Sunday voting in locations when 3% of the registered voters in a county petition for it.

6) Require bipartisan workers at election polls. The party winning the most votes for President in precinct designates an election worker to be the supervisor.

7) Polls cannot closer earlier than 8pm and be open a minimum of 12 hours. I would go with not earlier than 7pm.

8) Prohibit the requirement of witnesses to sign absentee ballots.

9) If a state has different rules for their state election for absentee ballots they must use a separate ballot and envelope for state and federal.

10) Poll watchers can only be assigned by county political parties. They will be allowed to act as poll watchers for both state and federal races if the state has the same laws for state elections. If they don't, the poll watchers designated under state law can only poll watch for state races. And cannot interfere with poll watchers assigned for federal elections.

11) Non-partisan groups can provide water and pizza when there are long waiting lines. But should not be necessary if county election boards do their job right.
