Weekend TOONs - Juneteenth A National Holiday
That GOP is really a crazy clown,
When will they learn that they never can mow him down?
(I stand by my lack of promises that I'll remember to include this every day)

For the first time in 48 years, the Pulitzer Prize Board chose not to name a winner in Editorial Cartooning a decision some are calling an insult to all cartoonists.
The Pulitzer Prizes announced Friday that Ken Fisher, drawing as Ruben Bolling; Lalo Alcaraz; and Marty Two Bulls Sr. were finalists in Editorial Cartooning. Winners were named in all 14 other journalism categories. The last time no award was given in Editorial Cartooning

The three finalists work looks different than previous winners. That is a result of evolving styles. The essence is the same as every other winner: the real impact of illustrated ideas on the reader.

(33,222 posts)It's on my bucket list to found a series of excellence prizes to things I'd like to see done or activities I think are valuable to continue.
I'm adding Editorial Cartooning to the top of the list.
I'm not sure I could have made it through the last 5 (seems like fifty million) years without the likes of those we see on an irregular basis here on DU and throughout the media.
Of course, initially it wouldn't be as prestigious as the Pulitzer. But, if they keep playing politics, my prize soon would be.

(15,005 posts)Humor was about the only relief since that depraved Scheissnozzle came down the escalator. JHB, Yo_Mama_Been_Loggin and a good number more have done Democracy a great service. Our great cartoonists have delivered smiles, things to ponder, exposed hypocrisy and criminality and more. They also make their works profound.
Timely, too.

(38,453 posts)Poor Wiley to be compared with the ....PUKE PARTY.....is awful...
Give Wiley a break...please...all he wants is ...dinner....
Through thick and thin...Wiley doesn't give up...NEVER....Gets hit by a rock...doesn't give up
............................................................................falls off a cliff.........doesn't give up
............................................................................gets blown up.........doesn't give up
............................................................................gets lost................doesn't give up
Yes, I have liked Wiley for over 65 years when I saw his cartoons in a theater...as part of 25 toons for 25cents
The greatest toon show ever.....and Wiley was one of the stars of that show..along with many others...

With Gov. Abbott vetoing the budget of the legislature and their aides, looks like he's embracing the practice of coercing unpaid labor.

Thanks for another great set of cartoons, JHB.
