Going forward, will most Covid infections and deaths be Republicans?

Seems likely, as Covid infections are rising in the anti-vac red states, dropping in the pro-vac blue states.

Not talked about in news, per OhioChick, who has 2 docs in family on front lines.

Likely odds of safety & perhaps less severe infection when fully vaxed, but her family members are reporting high break throughs.

She had posted a link stating 500 break through infections in MA. Yes, numbers might be statistically small for what is being reported, but not small if that % includes you or a loved one.

Also, pls remember: CDC quit counting break through infections! They are now only counting hoaputalizations & deaths from variants.

Pls keep masking & distancing for safety from Delta variant!

In just one week, another 150 vaccinated people tested positive for coronavirus in Massachusetts, according to the latest state data, bringing the total breakthrough cases to nearly 4,000 to date. - from NBC Boston

So .1% of those fully vaccinated have had a breakthrough case. Sounds pretty effective to me.

Anybody who can't take the vaccine for health reasons, will undoubtedly protect themselves by wearing masks for the time being.

Otherwise, they are oblivious to how this virus operates, and they take their chances.

Masks are a help but not at all a total fix. If they go out in public they are at the mercy of the local case count and any unvaccinated anti-maskers who continue to spread covid.

In a way it's worse, now that mask requirements are being lifted, because they can no longer tell at a glance who to avoid.

Of course they are being as sensible as they can be, but that doesn't mean they won't end up in the hospital.

Many people of color live in the south, in red states. I really doubt the majority are republican, but we’ve already seen they are more at risk from the virus. It’s worrying.

I don’t think you have to give your party affiliation at the hospital so we’ll never know anyway, will we? This disease doesn’t discriminate based on political party. Nor on nationality. I suppose you’re only referring to the US when you speak about infections? You’re leaving out most of the world who are neither Dem nor repub.

That was a little less than two weeks ago. I doubt it has more than doubled in that period of time. That demographic has the lowest vaccination rates in the US.

They're all walking around with targets on their backs. Though I don't wish death on anyone, they're the risk takers, not me. My husband I have been fully vaccinated since early April.

Unfortunately for the immunosuppressant and medically fragile population, the risk increases because of the stupid actions of others. Which means a continuation of masking and social distancing.

It sucks. But it is what it is.

but that last applies to us. Sucks, but it is what it is. We worry about some unvaxxed friends, but since most are older like us they're also typically vaxed, the elder demo who drag the dismal local vax stats up from what might otherwise be single digits.

And to add more misery to this mix, companies are having a massive problem keeping workers/laborers, I guess they still don't realize that people want better pay for the crap ass jobs they want these people to do, and COVID 19 forced a lot of people to decide between working for crap wages or dying. You pick.

in fully vaccinated people and only 20% of those cases were asymptomatic. They announced a few days ago that the Delta variant is in our county now, so not sure if that accounts for some of the breakthrough cases. I'm still wearing a mask and taking precautions.
