(26,081 posts)"Asking" the terrorists who supported your operation doesn't seem like a fruitful tactic to me. Get their cell phones, see which congresscritter has been in contact with them prior to 1/6, how often, and what they were saying. Go all out and get the truth and quit letting rw investigators cover up the truth like happened with Gosar. Sideline the drumpf political appointees, put them in meaningless jobs where they can't fuck us over or fire them where at all possible.

(8,178 posts)But then I considered what Kirshner reminds us, is that the investigator generally puts a question like this one, when they already know the answer and generally in possession of evidence in hand.
Lying would add to the charges. Hell, if I recall accurately, Martha Stewart ended up serving 5 years in fed prison for Lying to the FBI on a question regarding insider trading. The reports at the time, suggested that was the only crime she was charged, prosecuted and sentenced with.
Not a big fan of "insider traders" , but it did appear to me she was low hanging fruit, sort of both a trophy and a PR type of prosecution. Look at the sea of insider trading they could/should have gone after, but didn't.
FBI has perplexed me since the days of Hoover.

(32,328 posts)why the GQP are now blaming the FBI for 1/6. They use projection very skillfully.

(23,715 posts)I don't know how you get past them saying in court "we were just organizing a protest with our followers. We never had any idea or intent on them getting violent."
How do you prove that isn't true? Right up until the first punch was thrown this is just some people in Congress helping people exercise their first amendment rights. At some point they will need evidence that they either asked the followers to attack OR got wind there was going to be violence and did everything they could to "help it along" (by doing things like giving our Capital floor plans, actively lying to Capital police about the threat so the police would be understaffed), that sort of thing.
What it is going to take to bring down Congress critters is flipping a lot of "proud boys" and "oath keepers" against them. And then the question also becomes, how do you bring down drumpf? In the mafia, and drumpf knows this, the guy at the top doesn't tell the guy at the bottom who to kill. The guy at the top filters that order down through two or three levels before some putz makes the kill.
I know we all want drumpf taken down for this but it will take a LOT of investigating, a lot of deal making to "flip people" and a lot of time.
