Opinion | Kyrsten Sinema: We have more to lose than gain by ending the filibuster
The 60-vote threshold compels moderation and helps protect the country from wild swings between opposing policy poles.

Everyday Arizonans are focused on questions that matter most in their daily lives.
Is my job secure? Can I expand my business? Can we afford college? What about health care? When can I retire? Is my community safe?
Meanwhile, much of Washingtons focus is on a Senate rule requiring 60 votes to advance most legislation.
Arizonans expect me to do what I promised when I ran for the House and the Senate: to be independent like Arizona and to work with anyone to achieve lasting results.
Lasting results rather than temporary victories, destined to be reversed, undermining the certainty that Americas families and employers depend on.
The best way to achieve durable, lasting results? Bipartisan cooperation.

(53,441 posts)the GOP will use the courts and the states to do all of the parade of horribles that she rages against. All gun control will soon be a dead letter. Abortion rights in at least 30 states will be a dead letter. Laws protecting LGBT dead letters everywhere all using either the courts alone (guns and LGBT laws) or states and the courts (abortion). Regulations from the federal government dead letter (again the courts). Her profound stupidity combined with an equally profound lack of seriousness is frankly disgusting.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
