They went from a fairly progressive state, it was only one of ten states Mike Dukakis carried in 1988, to a Trumplican state in 2016 and 2020. That begs the question. What's the matter with Iowa?

(10,609 posts)I can remember when we had a Democrat as a senator. Now a Democrat doesn't have a snowballs chance of getting elected here. It sucks, and Ricketts is a colossal dbag.

(21,352 posts)of the job Joe Biden is doing as president
June 22:
President Joe Biden's approval rating among Iowans is underwater six months into his term in office, with 43% approving of the job he is doing and 52% disapproving in the latest Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll.
Five percent say they aren't sure.
That's a reversal from the last time the question was asked. In March, by a narrow margin, more Iowans approved of the job Biden, a Democrat, was doing as president (47%) than disapproved (44%).
In the June Iowa Poll, Democrats say they overwhelmingly approve of the job Biden is doing, at 89%. The presidents job performance has the approval of 43% of independents and just 6% of Republicans.

Maybe a combination of RW propaganda, years of GQP defunding and attacking public education, deruralization, radical tribalism, TFG's farm relief handouts after his trade war killed off the Chinese market for crops, etc.

They are the primary reason the Iowa primary elections were such a disaster in 2012 and 2016 they have so much money they had hired trolls in all the important Democratic precincts.
