I'm sorry, but the USPS can KMA. I can't get goods delivered through their services. They are not even pretending to attempt to deliver them anymore. You can see in their tracking service that they are just turning them around and sending them back, without ever trying to deliver them. They are now marking me as an unknown person or address, even though I have a long, long time occupancy at the address.
I am the sort of person that is very loyal, but no more. The DeJoy person accomplished his Trumpian mission and shed one more customer. I am slowing down my purchases, gonna do without for a long time, unless I can get Amazon to guarantee delivery by anyone else but the USPS. I don't give a tinker's damn what the problems of the USPS are now. I pay for the service, and when I can't get pet food delivered because the service is unreliable or now nonexistant, well, who cares about them? I can't afford to do so. I am thinking of having everything overnighted now, at tremendous extra expense. Eff the USPS.
I went into lockdown in an effort to avoid death and destruction. I have no family upon which I can rely to help me, so I am proactive in my own health matters. Guess I'll venture out into the soup to see what happens. Not looking forward to it, though.

(24,180 posts)It would be nice to see if other people in your neck of the woods are having similar problems.

(7,121 posts)Packages make it to the San Bernardino distribution center area, then they are sent back. Packages delivered by Amazon services are delivered promptly. Fedex can find me. USP can find me. The vaunted USPS doesn't even recognize my address as being valid.
I hope DeJoy gets canned soon. Very soon. Without any references for future jobs. Eff the USPS, eff DeJoy. And to think that the last in-person mailman I saw, I thanked profusely for delivering my packages. Probably laughed all the way down the road. Now, nothing.

(3,357 posts)I'm in Southern California. I do tip my carrier when he delivers "last-mile" for Amazon, though not when he delivers packages originally sent through USPS. Exception: He gets a tip for extra service like making sure live mealworms wait for me in the shade.
I love the USPS! (I have a few issues with Amazon...)

(7,121 posts)But, my plan is to continue lockdown with the works because of Super D. I am not coming out of lockdown. I think it is unwise. If I get it, I'll just crawl into my chair at home and die. Why not...sorry, I am just very angry right now.

(4,044 posts)I'm in South Florida. I have not experienced these post office problems.
Could it be that because I live in a Trump state, the post office has not suffered these DeJoy-induced problems?

(25,816 posts)a much needed public service. I'm against private prisons, schools and postal services.
The USPS can be healed and it will happen in this administration. The for profit idea for
prisons, etc. is just another way for someone to make money for basic needs.

(15,946 posts)USPS has a toll free number. The local postmaster is supposed to solve these sorts of issues. Id start there.

(62,130 posts)a reasonable delivery estimate (it's always 4 days later than when they say) until the day of delivery.
My packages are placed either in large mailbox, front porch, or garage opening. Amazon always snaps and texts a pic. With FEDEX I have to go hunting.

Id like to blame Dejoy, but I haven't been able to tell a difference. It sucks now and it sucked before.

(4,170 posts)But my mail carrier is fantastic, and I never have had any problems with my mail.
Have you complained to the post office?
fescuerescue
(4,464 posts)I've had trouble with mine in the past too, but complaining to the post office has always fixed it.
It's usually been an issue with them getting signatures on mail. They'll just mark me as not home, when they didn't even knock or get out of the truck.
Now Fedex? Ive nothing but good things to say. IMO, in my area its the best carrier of any of them.
I guess this is local area dependent.

(4,170 posts)However, like I said, they always try to hand me the package personally. As does my mail carrier.

I think they do it when they are in a hurry.
Just did it to me this week. They did it to me numerous times at another address about 10 years ago. I finally complained to the local post office and suddenly that driver was able to find my front door.

(5,685 posts)We only seem to be getting mail delivery two or three days a week. Multiple days of no mail, then a whole lot of mail when it does appear.

(1,451 posts)I've been beefing with my (Eastern Iowa) office too. I've always been very pro-USPS, defending them from the privatization talk and the bullsh*t 75-year pension funding. I think they do a good job with magazines and letters and such. I loathe that Amazon signed with them to deliver packages.
The packages used to all come UPS. Worked great. Great tracking. USPS tracking blows. They do a pretty good job getting everything to us. But deep down they hate us b/c we get tons of packages, mostly from Amazon. We live up a hill, so they have to bring all the boxes up the driveway. They keep looking for reasons to try to move our mailbox down to the street. They claim it's because of this (there's a patch of snow on the driveway) or that (there wasn't 20 foot clearance around the car in the driveway), but it's really about not wanting to lug lots of packages up our driveway.
The 2 dudes who delivered here for 30 years and never complained. These people complain all the friggin' time. They look for things about which they can complain. I can't help it that Amazon signed on with USPS. I wish they hadn't.

(34,691 posts)Everything is working smoothly for me: I send packages that are delivered on time, often early, and everything we order is delivered on time.
I am regularly sending packages overseas, too.
Sounds as if you have an issue with your delivery address - their computers are rejecting it. Unlikely that Louis DeJoy has screwed up. Figure it out online ( https://faq.usps.com/s/) , or GO TO THE POST OFFICE AND HAVE THEM HELP YOU.
