Florida Gov. Rhonda Deathsentence (BT)* thanked emergency workers for their ongoing efforts in Surfside on Friday, as the state held out hope for more survivors from the condo collapse.

“We recognize with that response, the people in uniforms are heroes,” he said at a news conference in Pensacola, Fla.

The governor said the state would assist the Shul Jewish Community Center and Support Surfside groups through charitable donations, and he urged people to donate to the organizations.

DeSantis is expected to return to Surfside on Friday as the search-and-rescue mission continues. At least 159 people were unaccounted for as of Friday morning.

Let's take it down a notch, Rhonda. LE, the paramedics and firefighters are doing their jobs. They didn't prevent the building from collapsing; they didn't rush in to get the people out of the tower before it collapsed; they are performing a SAR operation and hopefully finding more survivors in the rubble.

STFU with your hyperbole and hero worship. Like soldiers in war, they don't want it or need it, they just want to do their fucking jobs.

during the next few weeks will be to stand between a tv camera and Ron DeSantis. And once the hero worshipping ends, and the blame game begins, DeSantis will be looking for political scapegoats. That's how the scumbag operates.

You can bet investigative journalists at the Miami Herald will be scrutinizing any efforts by government officials over the years to weaken oversight of building requirements in South Florida's coastal areas. Knowing how DeSantis and his corrupt cronies roll, I wouldn't be surprised if he's caught up in this mess.
