(31,997 posts)I know I am 55 and it is a little ridiculous to be scared or storms but it is in my blood.
My mom's mom hated storms so bad too. She grew up in the time before TV or Warnings of any kind
and then my home town was hit by tornadoes 2 times in 3 years .
My sister (the one that died) lost her home to the one in 2016

(11,780 posts)The party broke up when the skies darkened. By the time we got home it was a real rip roaring thunder storm. We just pulled into the driveway and there was a huge crash. Lightening struck a big pine tree in the front yard. It split the trunk and the tree fell over, right across the driveway. We hadnt even started getting out of the car yet. As a kid it was all very exciting, I dont even remember being scared. I certainly should have been.

(63,221 posts)Your profile doesn't say where you are from. Are you expecting a tornado or just thunder/lightning storms?
Where are you located? Do you have anyone there with you? Can you go wait it out with someone else just so that you aren't alone?
Take care and keep us posted.

(63,221 posts)Heart of tornado country! I am glad that things have calmed down for you. Do you have a place to go in case tornado warnings come up again?
To me those are the most frightening storms because they come on so quickly and they are so destructive. Stay safe and take care! Keep us posted!
