Miami Condo Collapse--heard this a bit ago--so sad. 😪

Rescue is still on-going, but they added on the up-date they are asking relatives for DNA samples. I teared straight up.

My thoughts are with those who died in the rubble and with their friends and families. The horror of thinking that a loved one was trapped and injured and died like that... there are no words.

Imagine sleeping securely in your own bed and in seconds, end up crushed under cement and other building debris. I don't think in their worst nightmare, they could imagine ending up like that. Hopefully those who did not survive the collapse died instantly.

So much pain and tragedy. So preventable. Keeps going through my mind that usually the lowest bidder on construction and repairs, that company gets the contract.

There is no way that this wasn't preventable. Already we're learning some disturbing details, but I'm sure there is much more to come.

That maybe the angels were merciful and took them quickly.

...it happens really fast, and there's not much left of you. I remember after 9/11 someone who was part of the recovery team finding a spleen in the rubble and having to ask what to do with it -- put it in a body bag, or what? This is going to be pretty similar.

Thinking of victims trapped under all that rubble, struggling to stay alive in a tiny dark space, puts me over the edge.

Viewing the photos, the stories and photos of the "missing" and the rescue and recovery operations, the fires burning below, the smoke in the sky all bring me back to NYC in the days and weeks following the destruction of the towers. I had PTSD from witnessing it and find I am having a strong reaction to this current tragedy.

The pancake collapse would have taken them quickly, and hopefully most were sleeping and never felt or knew what happened. My thoughts and prayers are with the friends, family and responders.

Especially as to those who jumped to their deaths. I get vertigo just thinking about high places. To jump or fall? Those thoughts make me shudder and panic.

Just now on WPLG ch 10.

Only static on the line, but very creepy and unsettling.

This probably deserves it’s own thread

Their grandson was interviewed about the 16 phone calls from their landline telephone to his parents phone since the collapse.

Only static on the other end when answered, but could they be (have been) alive and trying to contact family?

Genuinely has me creeped out.
