It is my understanding that DeSantis has just signed into law a statute which "requires" college

students and faculty to be "surveyed" about their "political views".

My first question: what happens if your response to the survey is "pound sand!"

My second question: if their jobs or scholarships or grades depend upon "answering right", will not most learn to give Hannity-like responses?

First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

That is, I'd be curious if I didn't already know that the "justification" would be 100% pure, unadulterated bullshit.

I also think the chocolate ration should be increased to 23 grams from 25 grams.

that they know that this is all unconstitutional but passing the stuff anyway makes them feel (temporarily) like they've "owned the libs" and ensure their rabid right-wing base's loyalty in the next election- and sometimes at least a few people will be hurt by the laws while the legal processes are ongoing.

State Senator Lori Berman asked and was told the surveys will be sent to the .edu addresses, will not be anonymous, and when asked how the info would be used was not told how it would be.

So, students will be safe, because they pay money, tenured faculty and unionized faculty may be okay, secretaries, custodians, library staff, etc. will probably be fired. Well, laid off for budget reasons. Or, the library budget will be slashed, the English Department same, etc.

It may be thrown out of court, but it goes into effect July 1, and the first survey will be given right after the start of Fall Semester in mid August.

Geology classes need to make provisions to present the case of the earth only being 6,000 years old. There must be as many Q believers as Democrats on faculty and staff. The Florida government is off it's hinges and can't move right enough fast enough to suit the Republicans. Pay attention folks, DeSantis may be your next president.
