.
The car company Toyota is drawing criticism from those on the left for releasing a statement saying that they'll continue to support insurrectionists in Congress.
Axios reported Sunday evening that Toyota handed over $55,000 to 37 GOP objectors this year, so far. But it was their statement that sent many fleeing from one of the early adopters to green energy.
"We do not believe it is appropriate to judge members of Congress solely based on their votes on the electoral certification," the Toyota spokesperson told Axios in a statement.
Toyota was one of the first companies to deploy hybrid vehicles, becoming a liberal icon with progressives prizing their Prius and sales skyrocketed, CNBC recalled in 2018. But sales began to slump, and now green-loving car buyers are looking for the all-electric option.

(29,141 posts)How much she lost in interest. They were flat out discriminating against African Americans with literally different rates for different racial groups. My wife was s around 800 credit rating at the time.
As if that weren't enough,.TOYOTA finance sat on our car balance after it was totaled by hail for 9 months.
Oh yeah, and they didn't pay any interest on OUR money for that period.
Never again Toyota
Only reason I had toyo was I 'adopted' Dad's, after he stopped driving (and gave it to me

Wife got a Cadillac SRX when the Prius was totaled by hail while driving. The Prius was the car they continuously delayed payout on after our insurance had payed for the vehicle. They sat on our balance and we.couldntn just.use that to run out and get the replacement.

(29,141 posts)Then imagine sitting down with the smiling finance people while they slipped you the POC rate.
What's more, we were pretty green as we both had returned back to the states from living in Dubai for a decade. Little did we know, we were profiled and shafted.
So yeah, Toyota was on our list already.
Just follow their history of screwing consumers over, then add this on top
Not just no, it's a hell no to Toyota.

(56,071 posts)I mean, saying they shouldn't be judged solely based on this issue only makes them look all the more evil and indifferent to democracy. As long as they're buying laws and loopholes that work for them, they don't give a f.
It's like, yeah we know they're trying to destroy democracy but they're good for our bottom line so whatevs.

Toyota is NOT your friend.
I certainly would never do business with them again in a million years even before this.
Funny how things change. Had a brand new Camry rental this last month and the whole vehicle was cheap and plasticy. The build seemed just plain cheap. They are literally coasting on rep at this point.

After I read about Henry Ford personally accepting a medal from Hitlers Nazis, I havent bought another one. I would like an electric truck, but well take our time.

(15,261 posts)Beginning on May 3, Boeing gave out nearly $900,000 to political committees and candidates, including four of the 147 Republicans who voted against certifying United States President Joe Bidens win.
By Bill AllisonBloomberg
14 Jun 2021
Boeing Co.s political action committee resumed giving to federal candidates and committees in May after a three-month pause, including donations to members who opposed certifying the 2020 election results for President Joe Biden. The aerospace giant joined dozens of other companies on Jan. 13 in announcing that they would suspend and review their PAC donations in the wake of the Jan. 6 riot by supporters of Donald Trump. But beginning on May 3, Boeing gave out nearly $900,000 to political committees and candidates, according to its latest filing with the Federal Election Commission.
Among sitting lawmakers who received $5,000, the maximum amount a PAC can give per election, were House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, Minority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana and Representative Vicky Hartzler of Missouri. Representative Jack Bergman, a Michigan Republican who also voted against certification, got $2,500. All four were among the 147 Republicans who voted against certifying Electoral College votes for Biden in alignment with Trumps false claim that the 2020 election was rigged. Five people were killed as a result of the mob storming the building.
A Boeing spokesperson didnt immediately return an email seeking comment.
Boeings PAC also gave $25,000 to the Republican Attorneys General Association. An affiliate of the group, the Rule of Law Defense Fund, helped organize protests on Jan. 6 that preceded the riot, paying for robocalls urging Trump supporters to attend the Stop the Steal rally. The PACs biggest donations went to the Republican Governors Association, which got $200,000, and the Senate and House arms of the Democratic and Republican parties, each of which got $105,000 the maximum that a PAC can give to a party committee per year.

I drive Hondas. I love them but was considering a switch since Honda does not make a hybrid minivan. I guess Toyota is off the list.
