It was ever thus

Graphic mine

Exactly this and in the era of the far right we are living through this juxtaposition has never been sharper for a progressive west. 2021 and the in group are not scared to shout out loud the bits they were quietly muttering just a generation ago - because they knew society would shun them then, now? not so much. Turns out that the in group is white ethno nationalist racist supremacist nasty, explaining a lot about they treat the out group, right? How many examples are there for the law binding but not protecting certain communities. Black men is a very obvious one, of course, but not the only one.

Policing during the pandemic has been very illustrative of how the in group is used to being protected by the law, but not bound by it. How many stories have we seen from outraged from the Shires, being stopped and question by the police during lockdowns about the purpose of their journey and how outraged they were at what they saw as over policing, positioned against stop and search of young men of colour, cause walking while black.

Great quote.

1. It is great quote. The author is (apparently) a composer - "Frank" Wilhoit

...not the political scientist Francis Wilhoit. Although weirdly, Francis Wilhoit said some
similar things. Two different people?

Regardless of the source, it is one of the most concise and elegant summations of the undergirding "principle" of
conservatism.

et al other situations workers don't control or manage: "Sorry, nothing personal, just business." Oh, I'm not even talking about the "small business" where owners suddenly remember you're not really family.

Ummm, we like your skills but not your_____________ (fill it in: age, color, sexual gender and/or lifestyle, wellness, etc...and we know our pockets are fuller than yours, hehehe). You might have documentation, but we have more money and laws... In other words, "You just don't fit into this anymore... and feel you can't be useful in ANY way and/or you use too many benefits...huh?

At any time, for any reason...Right.........................................................................

4. We need to press the MSM on this point and ask the GOP speakers to explain this principle.

Both seem to treat it as if it were some sort of "natural selection".
