Rep. Beth Van Duyne will have to pay a $500 fine for refusing to wear a mask during a May protest on the Houses mask rules.
Seven Republicans were issued warnings for violating the mask rules, while three Republicans, including Van Duyne, were fined $500 for violating the mask rules a second time. Van Duyne, of Irving, had previously violated the mask rules on May 13.
At issue was the chambers requirement that all members wear masks regardless of vaccination status. After the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated guidance on May 13 to allow vaccinated people to go maskless in most spaces, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., kept the chambers mask rules, saying it was unclear how many members had been vaccinated.
Its evident now that enforcement of any mask rule has become a partisan, political issue, rather than one grounded in science, Van Duyne wrote in her appeal.

(5,128 posts)She is useless. She came to be with the "Tea Party".
Bethie was a disaster as Mayor of Irving but she is supported by big money, plus she's blonde.

(5,128 posts)I was told a number of years ago that Bethie's track was to make it to Congress. This was told to me by someone who knew her well. She was a commissioner on Irving City Council and had been involved in politics since before Bethie was born.
There was a gentleman at every council meeting texting her what to say and do. Bethie got away with most of it.
We stopped them from drilling/fracking on the edge of the Trinity River. I know Bethie well!!

I'm over here in Tarrant County. I seem to remember her from her time spent in office here.
