I have no dog in this fight but why does everyone start a NEW thread for debate points?

If there's an official thread, can't we focus our collective brilliance together? Why does there have to be so many sub-threads that dilutes the convo?

Honestly, I don't care one way or the other but its just an interesting thought for me.

We'd have a more focused convo on events like this if we were all on one thread....

Just my 2 cents.

The debate's over. I've never seen a post-debate thread. But I would do it, if you start one. Honeycombe8 Oct 2012 #8

So many threads with only title lines makes it harder to keep up with the flow. But thanks to all who contributed so I could get a good sense of the debate!

On the other hand, most posts on the 'official' debate threads go without responses.

And big moments should have their own thread for discussion and thoughts just about that.

Everyone starts a new thread on whatever the issue of the moment is....

Theoretically an "official" debate thread concentrates the discussion about the points but when everyone just kinda sprawls, it gets hard to get some kind of actual discussion (ya know, we're here in General DISCUSSION).

Anyway, as a past member of the dialup crew who suffered mightily when the threads got longer than @ 150 posts, I've taken it upon myself to try to keep things in some kind of order.

But I'm on a wifi hotspot now. So FOR ME, its all good.

If fellow DUers don't believe its important to the overall community to accommodate our tech challenged rural contributors, so be it.

Any woman, or man for that matter, should be puzzled and/or offended by Romney's answer to this question:

QUESTION: In what new ways to you intend to rectify the inequalities in the workplace, specifically regarding females making only 72 percent of what their male counterparts earn?

ROMNEY: I'm going to help women in America get good work by getting a stronger economy and by supporting women in the workforce.

...get home at 5 o'clock so (they)I can be there for making dinner for my kids and being with them when they get home from school. So we said fine. Let's have a flexible schedule so you can have hours that work for you.

Mittens doesn't get it that he was talking about GOVERNMENT workers - the few jobs that are 8-5 - bet not all employers would be sooo flexible.
