Kristi Noem has turned the SD National Guard into mercenaries for a political stunt.
This seems very wrong.

Gov. Kristi Noem is deploying 50 S. Dakota National Guard troops to the Texas-Mexico border in response to Texas Gov. Abbott's "request for help" with illegal border crossings.

The donor for the South Dakota National Guard's mission to the Mexico border is "Willis & Reba Johnson's Foundation."

The Johnsons, and their foundation, are based out of Tennessee. The amount will not be disclosed.

(82,849 posts)I read with great interest the story that you're now renting out the South Dakota National Guard for mercenary purposes. Long story short, my neighbor has been getting on my nerves lately. Simply put, the cigar smoke and the loud music have reached intolerable levels.
Please provide a rate sheet for platoon, squad and battalion rentals, and let me know if any of the prospective mercenaries have any special needs (vegan diet, orthodox religious observances, etc.). Thank you in advance for your prompt response.

A Republican mega-donor from Tennessee will fund South Dakota's National Guard deployment to the Texas border. If you need any more proof that the whole "border crisis" is about race and scorched earth politics. Here you go >>

(788 posts)as far a I know, however, Iowa taxpayers are on the hook for paying for the deployment and the additional overtime for those left behind to cover their shifts.

50 NG to help cover 1,241 miles of border? That's nearly 25 miles per soldier. Is she sending transport as well? It takes 7 hrs to walk 25 miles. 14 round trip.
What a waste of time & money. Not to mention taking soldiers away from family. Stupid PR stunt.

Who the f cares. Nothing is going to change no matter how many people go to the fn Texas border. Nothing changes until what they are fleeing from changes.
