Ohio native Rep. Ted Lieu endorses Nina Turner in OH-11

https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/politics/2021/06/22/ohio-native-rep--ted-lieu-endorses-nina-turner-in-oh-11

Rep. Ted Lieu, D-California, who grew up in northeast Ohio, announced Wednesday he was backing Turner to fill the seat left vacant earlier this year by Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge.

“[Turner] came from working class roots,” Lieu told Spectrum News in an exclusive interview. "Her mom was a nurse's aide. Her dad was a truck driver, and like me, she started working at a very young age, age of 14, to keep her family afloat.”

Lieu added, “And so she understood the hardships of inequality, of being poor. And that's something she's going to carry with her in Congress. And we need more voices like those of Nina Turner’s.”

Lieu’s endorsement comes as the Aug. 3 primary for the OH-11 special election quickly

especially considering that Turner compared Biden to a bowl of shit after he got the Dem nomination: “It’s like saying to somebody, ‘You have a bowl of shit in front of you, and all you’ve got to do is eat half of it instead of the whole thing.’ It’s still shit.” https://www.huffpost.com/entry/nina-turner-joe-biden_n_5f200c04c5b638cfec49ecd5 Why not endorse an actual Democrat? I keep getting text messages from her campaign asking for money, and I can't figure out how to make them stop.

It was no secret that Nina compared Biden to "a bowl of shit". That disqualifies her right there. And if it didn't, then voting for Jill Fucking Stein disqualified her. And if that didn't, then trying to run create a "People's Party" to compete (and split votes) and weaken the Democratic party should disqualify her also.

I prefer LOYAL Democrats who support the party, who support our party's nominee, who support party leadership, who support our president and who do NOT compare Joe Biden to a "bowl of shit" during the run-up the the general election.

I support Democrats and she is not a Democrat. She went against both of our candidates in the last two presidential elections...and helped Trump win the first one IMHO...she can never be trusted. I would vote for her in a general but that is all.

Two Cuyahoga County anti-discrimination initiatives aim to protect LGBTQ community
Updated Jan 30, 2019; Posted Jul 14, 2018

The discussions are timely. Two transgender women have been killed and two others attacked in Cleveland this year. And according to Human Rights Campaign's tally, one seventh of the nation's fatal attacks of transgender people in 2018 happened in Cuyahoga County.

The charter amendment is sponsored by councilmembers Dale Miller, Sunny Simon, Yvonne Conwell and Shontel Brown, as well as Council President Dan Brady on behalf of the Charter Review Commission.

snip

It would also add sexual orientation and gender identification to the list of classes protected against discrimination for employment, housing and public accommodations. If passed, Cuyahoga County would join about 30 Ohio cities and counties that offer those protections for the LGBTQ community; state law does not.

"Nina Turner, assessing the choice of Biden against President Donald Trump in the November presidential election, told The Atlantic: “It’s like saying to somebody, ‘You have a bowl of shit in front of you, and all you’ve got to do is eat half of it instead of the whole thing.’ It’s still shit.”

I have to wonder what the Nina Turner glee is really about.

Each candidate in this primary have gotten some quality endorsements. Each has the resources needed to make their case directly to the voters in that district. Frankly, it's their call who they want to represent their views and priorities. If Turner wins I will expect her to be less of a bomb thrower from the inside than she was from the outside, but time will tell if she wins. The truth is that there are a lot of people (not a majority but a lot), many of them left of center, who don't trust what they view as an entrenched political class that has sat in Congress over the last 50 years, sometimes under Democratic control, sometimes under Republican control. It is not shocking to me if in a few cases voters choose someone who shares that view point to represent them in Congress. We shall see.
