BTW, I never hear anyone talking about the difference between misinformation and disinformation.

From what I understand dissembling misinformation via the unprecedented-in-history speed of social media is the passing on of negative rumors. memes etc from whatever information silo one hangs out in and not knowing whether it's false or true. Disinformation on the other hand is purposely passing on negative and damaging untruths about opponents.
