Rep Jackie Speier compares 1/6 to day she was shot, left for dead at a Jonestown, Guyana. RIGHTEOUS!

JUST NOW:
@RepSpeier
compares 1/6 to the day she was shot and left for dead at a Jonestown, Guyana airport by Jim Jones' henchmen. She rarely speaks publicly about the experience.

The two events were strikingly similar.

She is a profile in courage.

...called "The Jonestown Massacre: While We Watched", she's interviewed several times.
Her calmness recalling the events is remarkable.
She related that after she was already down, gunman came by and shot the victims a couple times to be sure they were dead.
But, 2 of them survived anyway, after bleeding out all night.
Incredible, hearing her talk about it!

They should sit down with Representative Speier and talk sometime.

Congressman Ryan was killed. They wanted to help people trapped in Jonestown.

She is a very brave woman. More courageous than almost anyone there.

Guyana happened a couple of days after I got home. Every day the newspaper headlines the body count went higher chronicling the madness of that event. The thought that the world had gone mad led me to cut short my vacation.

In those days news wasn't instantaneous, it took weeks for major or minor news to reach to reach the Aleutian islands.
I didn't know Bing Crosby had passed. Or Pope John Paul.
As my brother said at the time, "you missed 6 months of white Christmas".

Happened… I will never forget sitting in the living room that night watch the news and seeing the footage from a helicopter flying over the compound and seeing all of those bodies laying face down, all the different colored clothing…there were sooo many bodies.

The Documentary I watched on this was really good. The end of it has footage from the airport where the Congressman was killed and Rep. Speier we’re attacked at.
