(26,366 posts)Do they blow them up for fun ever?

(58,634 posts)that was pretty spectacular and "expected" as they planned it.

(64,988 posts)...that was a couple hundred pounds of ANFO.
That's 20x this situation, with an explosive release per unit mass of 66% higher. 333 times the detonation energy.
That cement truck went bye-bye!
But, there's something fishy about this cop truck blowing up at 55.5% of rated containment.
BTW: I had lunch with Jamie & Adam (plus, some crew) about 3 days one week about 15 years ago.
They were pretty much exactly what we see on the show.
When they were doing a theater tour, I got invited to the show in the city to our north. VIP treatment. Pretty cool!

As destroyed as that truck was, it looks like those fireworks contained high explosives, not the low explosives that are supposed to be in there.

(36,257 posts)Some idiot stored a lot of fireworks at his home (that's the illegal part); Bomb Squad was trucking them out in a heavily shielded container to contain any blast which occurred. Only partially effective, obviously, but think what the damage would have been if they had just carried them out in a flatbed truck.

(18,570 posts)That someone illegally stored a large quantity of fireworks in a residential area or the bomb squad removing them from the area?

(6,011 posts)It seems to me that they could have found a better location after loading that truck.

(51,583 posts)I hope the ones who bought them illegally are fined the full amount. The city shouldn't have to pay that. Put a lean on their property.

(12,212 posts)There must be a correlation between obsessive firework use and a low IQ. I cant see how or why anyone would dedicate that much time and money into lighting fireworks year-round.
We have some idiot who sets off those huge pyrotechnics style ones at 5AM right over our roofsweeknights! We are practically thrown out of bed from a deep sleep. That person has issues.
Theyre quiet tonight for some reason. I wonder if that news scared them off for one night.

(89,244 posts)if it's becsuse police are finally going after them which is what was happening in the OP or if there isn't as much supply becsuse of issues due to covid and manufacturing in China.
