(830 posts)"These guys may be liars, grifters, thieves and amoral...but at least they aren't Democrats." All the rethugs I deal with here in Texas are easily out maneuvered in any discussion of policy and action, but their overarching answer to all is "at least he/she is not a Democrat." The republican party has been branding democrats as horrible baby killer commies for 50 years now, the rank and file are unwilling to see democrats as any thing but awful. To do so would be to admit they are wrong...and that has not happened in the republican party since Nixon got impeached.

(52,560 posts)It is mindboggling. I look at some of them and think, "You aren't qualified to do anything in the real world, so you went into politics where no qualifications are required". It is either politics or reality TV. They can't become professional criminals because they are too stupid. (Well, I suppose some politicians could be considered "criminals", but not very professional.)

(54,492 posts)It takes real malfeasance in office to piss off one of the most respected people in his field. That is a ton of bricks dumped on McCarthy. Kev baby has no credibility remaining.

(3,563 posts)I'm a retired Army officer of a certain rank. For the last 12 years of my 30-year career I worked closely with general officers. Except for a couple who slipped through, they were well-educated, thoughtful, carefully-spoken and articulate. When a general officer resorted to profanity, you knew your shit was in the street.
For Mike Hayden to call McCarthy an asshole means the GO corps has had it with McCarthy and, probably, with Republican efforts to tar the military.

(12,654 posts)Okay, let's say for a moment that F*cker Carlson IS the subject of a counterintelligence investigation.
1. People generally don't know that they're being investigated. Who tipped him off?
2. Contrary to popular belief, the NSA does not listen in on American citizens without a FISA warrant and a damn good justification for it. What probably happened was that he was communicating with a foreign national that was being monitored (as is perfectly legal under the 4th Amendment and other governing documents). This is the same way that Manafort was caught talking to the Russian ambassador.
3. If a US Citizen is on the other end of a call where illegal activities are being discussed, it is reported to the NSA Inspector General's office, and referred to the FBI. Mango Mussolini installed one of his minions at in the NSA IG's office, but he was walked out the door on January 21st, after only having his clearance a few days at the most.
Which leads to the $64,000 question - F*cker, why were you talking about illegal activities to a foreign national?
