NEW YORK — Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg surrendered to authorities early Thursday after prosecutors secured grand jury indictments against him and the former president's family company, which declared the move an effort to harm Donald Trump.

Weisselberg is the first individual to be charged in connection with a long-running criminal investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. (D), who is now collaborating with New York Attorney General Leticia James (D) to investigate Trump's business practices. The Trump Organization also will be arraigned, represented in court by one of its attorneys.

Weisselberg arrived at the Manhattan criminal courthouse through an employee entrance at about 6:20 a.m., according to journalists who saw him arrive. His attorney, Mary E. Mulligan, confirmed the surrender in a text to The Washington Post.

“Mr. Weisselberg intends to plead not guilty and he will fight these charges in court,” Mulligan said in a statement sent on behalf of Weisselberg from herself and co-counsel Bryan C. Skarlatos.

It was likely negotiated by his attorney well in advance. Prosecutors will generally allow this for white collar crimes. As much as I love a good perp walk, I'm not surprised.

Remember tom delay's mug shot? He had a suit on, combed hair, and was smiling.

This stuff happens all the time as long as you have an expensive lawyer and the surrender was pre-arranged.
