No way will a NYC jury think THIS was a trivial offense: Alan Weisselberg

is alleged to have lied about his place of residence in order to avoid $238K in New York City taxes.

Residents of NYC have to pay Federal income taxes AND state income taxes AND substantial NYC taxes. And no one enjoys that, but most people pay them anyway.

https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/20982368/new-york-v-trump-org-allen-weisselberg.pdf

Additionally, Weisselberg concealed for years the fact that he was a resident of New
York City
who was required to pay New York City income taxes. During the period of the scheme,
Weisselberg thereby evaded approximately $556,385 in federal taxes, approximately $106,568 in
state taxes, and approximately $238,159 in New York City taxes, and he falsely claimed and
received approximately $94,902 in federal tax refunds and approximately $38,222 in state tax
refunds, to which he was not entitled.

Weisselberg is just the first person who's being singled out for prosecution, along with the Trump Org.

But the document says there are multiple other executives who were involved in and benefited from the overall tax avoidance "scheme." (Not necessarily the NYC tax part though.)

They are all on notice now. They can voluntarily offer cooperation, or they can wait till their names end up in a superceding indictment.

And this 'scheme' will bring down every member of the Trump family. They must be freaking out. Nobody cheats the New York State Dept of Taxation and Finance and go unpunished.

Others involved in the same scams. Also leverage in flipping a smaller fish to get to a bigger one. From the outside, it's hard to say where this will lead or what the plan truly is.

The last thing they will want is for this trial to take place in a city where prospective jurors are likely to have relatives or known someone who either got ripped off by one of TFGs "businesses", lived in one of TFG or associates roach motels at one time, or had a family member or friend died from Covid-19 or survived but is now a long-hauler.

The worst part is that Weisselberg would likely have gotten away from it if Dumdum had stayed out of politics. He's hardly the only one of these guys who's on the take.
