Five more days of constant rainfall

I feel bad. I wanna send this to the Pacific northwest areas they need it badly. Texas is like an oasis currently. We start to harvest the rain for our gardens and bird bath to reduce our water usage. And it is illegal to harvest rain water in Texas for some dumb reason.

Like it's free water and you can't collect it.

Rainwater collection in Texas is legal under some rules. Assembly Bill 3391 says that the collection scheme has to be integrated into the building’s architecture and that the municipality has to be notified in writing. Rainwater is legally collected in Texas. House Bill 3391 contains several provisions to note; for example, a collection system should be included in the building’s design, and written notification should be given to the municipality.

Only if you have permission and its architecture based. So I'm doing it illegally for my own architectural purposes.

I've been hearing morons shooting off fireworks all goddamn week and they don't even come out to stop them now. I doubt they're going to stop me for collecting rain in a barrel for like a week. It was my mom's idea and getting the barrel was not really expensive and only cost me like 10 bucks

I only have to plant one more and that's during fall. But my tomatoes are getting fairly big so I expect them to flower soon. And we got one pumpkin flower so it should be spouting soon too.

there just isn't that much rain.

Whatever falls naturally recharges groundwater, lakes, rivers and other such stuff. Agriculture insists on getting its share, too. And every town has toilets to flush and lawns to water.

Used to be water wars out West, and may see them again.

but I'm in Floriduh and we have been getting our share of dry months so I have 5-55 gallon storage barrels, and over 100 2 litre soda bottles full of run off water. I also use my a/c condensate water. I ran out of water for the garden at the end of May this year and had to use city water which gets expensive due to being charged for the outflow for the same water I put on the ground.

We've been getting storms now so I'm re stocking.

The thing about using soda bottles is when it's cold they provide a warming wall, some companies call them "Water walls" that you can surround your plants with.

I also use them to hold down the plastic I use for solarization. They're alot lighter than sandbags.

You will NEVER use as much as one golf course does in your lifetime.

You can't control recent weather patterns.

I've seen plenty of people boasting about their good fortunes, urging others to leave economically depressed areas as they did. Yet some people are wise enough to avoid places like the Mojave Desert, even if they became technological havens of high-paying industry.

We had some nice rain today & I felt a twinge of guilt momentarily. Wishing rain could have gone to help areas burning or endangered. No control over the weather, though, & it was really dry here, which is typical in the summer here.

... if they're experiencing unexpected events.

Like someone living on Vancouver Island, which has historically received more rainfall than anywhere else in North America, suddenly suffering a severe drought and the like.

Climate change will surely keep driving bizarre weather patterns, but I suspect that most of them will be temporary at least.

It will surely pass, though, so that's encouraging.

Then unusual weather will affect others, like a terrible weather lottery.
