Yes, as the Kansas City Star reported, lawmakers there spent hours last week in a discussion that ‘resembled a remedial sex-education course.’ It was a tricky play, attacking birth control as a way to attack abortion, and it didn’t work…this time.”

work by causing abortions. This has been going on for years.

The zealots driving this agenda are out to assert authority over people's (most especially women's) lives. "Protecting babies" had been a very useful PR tool in gaining support to restrict and ban abortions. It's also useful for them to use it against contraception, where they'd have a harder time swaying people without it.
