MEMPHIS, Tenn. Friday, Byhalia Connection LLC announced it will not be pursuing the construction of the Byhalia Pipeline.
The lower US oil production from the pandemic is the main reason the company decided against the project.

(25,938 posts)but corporations are shortsighted, some unable to envision anything past the next fiscal quarter. They cant reconcile what they see as abandonment of their core products and services with developing potentially even more profitable energy sources.

And of course, let's remember that, altough it's perfectly understandable that no one wanted a pipeline they feared could leak toxins into their drinking water to run through their neighborhood, many who opposed it organized in groups larger than just their neighborhoods.

(57,081 posts)... needs potholes fixed, drug dealers moved, a traffic lite put in, more police patrols - it's black women who will get it fixed.
Those angry neighborhood residents protected their homes and protected others' homes up and downstream from them. They're heros.
