My husband has been obsessing over the idea of Speaker of the House

I keep telling him quit putting out in the atmosphere but I think it freaked him out that anyone can be speaker of the House. He is worried the republicans manage to get House and Senate and place Trump in as speaker.

Now he is wondering if someone in jail can become speaker.

anyone know if that can happen? I would think someone in jail couldn't be nominated.

3. I do not know, perhaps the Speaker can be anyone...

...However, I doubt that any individual other than a duly elected Representative can vote.

I suppose the Speaker as a manager can be effective as now, or as would be with Trump as speaker, mismanaged.

2) Trump isn't going to jail.

3) Trump recently said he has no interest in being SOTH.

If he became Speaker of the House absolutely everything would come to a screeching halt. I honestly don't think they're dumb enough to do that.

7. This is a right-wing fever dream

It's not a happy prospect to be sure but Trump knows as much as how to be SOTH as the average joe or jane on the street. I don't know what Republicans think that they would be accomplishing by doing something like this. Much like he was a (P)resident, Trump would take advantage of the perks and privileges of the job (any?) but refuse to do any real work. This is Idiocracy-level territory. He'd run the House of Representatives into the ground so bad, even the most rabid Trump-humping Republicans would probably be forced to eventually have to vote him out. It would sure as heck galvanize the Democrats too and lead to us winning the House back overwhelmingly in the next election IMHO.
