The zoo says none of the animals have gotten COVID, they just want to be proactive.

OAKLAND, Calif — A San Francisco Bay Area zoo is inoculating its big cats, bears and ferrets against the coronavirus as part of a national effort to protect animal species using an experimental vaccine.

Tigers Ginger and Molly were the first two animals at the Oakland Zoo to get the vaccine this week, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Saturday. The doses were donated and developed by veterinary pharmaceutical company Zoetis in New Jersey.

Yet, (not unexpectedly) some have gotten hate-filled messages and threats from those who failed to inform themselves that NO, HUMAN vaccine doses are NOT being diverted to zoo animals.

Only one more example of how hard it is to get many people to inform themselves before making up their minds about something.

Good on this and other zoos for being proactive. Some of those animals are nearly irreplaceable and those endangered are a treasure to mankind.

Why would someone care? We have more vaxes than takers & Joe has made provisions to share internationally.

Idiots. Of course they are zoonotic.

Ty for sharing!

I love that they are being proactive to protect our planetary neighbors!

He called it Knowland Park at the time. Not sure the technical name these days.

My cousin and her hubby and kiddo live just up the hill from there.

Might have to get back one of these days.
