Toomey (R-PA) is retiring. Great Senate pickup opportunity for Democrats

Republicans will likely elect an unhinged Qanon kook to replace the relatively moderate Toomey, who voted for impeachment.
This increased the chances that we pick up a Senate seat there.

He looks like he is not easy to intimidate either. I pity the Republican who runs against him.

8. Toomey has been a surprise - something happens to GOP senators in Pennsylvania

(thinking of Arlen Spector). When Toomey ran had been head of the 'Club or Growth' group. Solid RW (economic) group that pressured senators to vote in line. Always expected a partisan hack. But in the Trump era, he seems somewhat moderate, and this vote was principled. Almost think if he stayed in the senate that he, might have followed in Spector's footsteps (former stalwart GOP eventually moderates to the point of changing party affiliation.)

That said, glad he is retiring, and I really hope that the Lt. Governor wins the primary and general.
