‘It’s a Crime. So Is Insurrection’: Steve Schmidt Slams Anti-Vaxx Republican’s ‘BS’ Support of Not Vaccinating Military

Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt blasted U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) for announcing he supports members of the United States military who are threatening to “quit” if they are required to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

“The Army has directed commands to prepare to administer mandatory COVID-19 vaccines as early as Sept. 1, pending full Food and Drug Administration licensure,” Army Times reported late last week.

“I’ve been contacted by members of our voluntary military who say they will quit if the COVID vaccine is mandated,” said Congressman Massie, who has degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has suggested he is a science expert while calling climate change “pseudo science.”

“I introduced HR 3860 to prohibit any mandatory requirement that a member of the Armed Forces receive a vaccination against COVID-19. It now has 24 sponsors,” he tweeted.

I’m at the point of not giving a shit. My husband was in the Guard. He was forced to have vaccinations. He didn’t have a choice. My brother went to West Point. He was forced to have vaccinations. I’m thinking, whatever, let them quit. Not sure I care at this point. I’m so sick of this. Just get the damn vaccine and stop acting like complete idiots. My brother has even said, wtf, when I was in the army and they told us to get a vaccine, we got a vaccine. Full stop.
And, to add, my husband just said, anyone who goes through basic training will do what their told. So, that’s all bullshit.

That's the fucking problem. He's not some Moron being interviewed at a Drumpf rally. He holds a position within our government, and is helping destroy our nation.

This is why we can’t just keep letting them all do whatever the hell they want.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that officers could resign their commissions at any time after fulfilling their initial service obligation and that enlisted can also receive an open ended contract once they reached a certain rank and/or time in service (such as becoming staff sergeant in the Army or hitting 12 years of service in the Air Force).

That said, Massie is full of hot air. Everyone in the military has already received a plethora of vaccinations, and I doubt anyone will bat an eye over the COVID one.

Military personnel suddenly deciding which vaccines they will take and which they won't. Would that have any effect at all on military readiness? Troops have to go all over the world, and vaccines are required so that you don't lose half your unit to yellow fever or typhoid. But sure, let's let each individual decide for himself or herself whether to get vaccinated.

Republicans clearly don't support the troops if this kind of hare-brained notion is being seriously advanced.
