Kingzinger Suspects Some Lawmakers Knew of Insurrection

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) told the New York Times that he suspects that certain members of Congress knew what would happen on January 6 and supported the attack on the Capitol.

Said Kinzinger: “I won’t name names, but yes, I do have that suspicion. I will say, if you just looked at Twitter — the whole reason I brought my gun and kept my staff home and told my wife to stay in the apartment was looking at Twitter. I saw the threats.”

He added: “If you have members of Congress who were involved in nurturing an insurrection, heck yeah, we need to know.”

He's 100% certain of it.
I don't get why he'd pull punches now. He's been most outspoken about these events for 6 months.
I "suspect" he'll give testimony to the investigators about what he knows and is being cagey about it now.
But, he knows something for sure.

5. I Don't Believe That

I think the "upset family" is part of the hero with integrity image he's promoting.
From what I can tell in this district, he's still very popular with voters, his family appears to be traditional republicans, and a neighbor of his tells me. (Kinzinger lives about 12 miles from me) that there a family gatherings at his house on most holidays.
I don't believe he's really all that much at risk nor that his family is very upset with him.

I admit I have my doubts about Kinzinger because he talks same ol' old time Republican in between the lines, but for him to say this is incredible. He brought his gun, kept his staff home, and told his wife to stay home? I'd call that more than a suspicion, Congressman.

This is why the GOP wants no part of an investigation. It would be an admission of sedition. But the truth will come out. It is sad and frightening that they persist in their delusion of denying what is on video, and what most of us saw in real time.
