or the "crabs in a basket" phenomenon than today's Republican "party".
If a bunch of crabs are placed in a basket, each of them is capable, individually, to use their pincers to reach up, grab onto the basket's rim and hoist themselves out to freedom. But, this does not happen.
As soon as a crab begins to pull themself up and out, the crabs below them will reach out and pull them back down. The attitiude---if crabs have attitudes---seems to be "If I haven't been able to raise myself up, I won't let you!"
Republicans can't govern. Right now, they can't govern because they are the minority both chambers of Congress and they LOST the White House. But, an argument could certainly be made that even when they are "in power", they do not govern because they have no desire to do the hard work of studying, listening, debating , proposing and passing laws which protect and serve the American public. It is so much easier to just RULE; say "to hell with all that democratic process nonsense" and just announce their rules for us to live by.
And, now, since they can't rule OR govern, they are doing their best to pull down anything that any Democrat might accomplish for the nation's benefit.
We use hammers on crabs, don't we?
