https://www.hawaii-guide.com/hawaii-covid-vaccineRight now, the only way to bypass Hawaiis quarantine for off-island travelers is to show a negative COVID test. But on July 8, you can upload a photo of your vaccine card (must be fully vaxed at least 2 weeks prior to flying), show it to authorities at the airport, and run around Hawaii freely.

(2,868 posts)A photo of a fake vaccine card is ridiculous. Electronic vaccine passports please.

(34,114 posts)where no one is even making a pretense of requiring vaccination to run around without a mask?
(I'm in favor of electronic vaccine passports - but I'm also in favor of supporting places that are at least making an attempt to keep people safe.)
WHITT
(2,868 posts)already have electronic vaccine passports.
Are they using them to enforce masking (or restrict travelers from entering) - or do they just exist?
is utilizing them for access, and the private-sector is following their lead. The others are brand new.

(36,478 posts)The vaccine verification system announced by Gov. Gavin Newsom late last week is now being rolled out in the state of California, which officials emphasized is not akin to a vaccine passport.
The Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record, which Californians can register for through the California Department of Public Healths website, is intended to be an online version of the vaccine card received upon getting inoculated for COVID-19.
While CDPH recommends that vaccinated Californians keep their paper CDC card in a safe and secure place, we recognize that some people might prefer an electronic version, said California State Epidemiologist Dr. Erica Pan in a press release. And if one of the states nearly 20 million vaccinated Californians misplaces their paper card, the Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record provides a convenient backup.
In order to obtain the digital card, individuals must provide their name, date of birth, a cell phone number or email used to register for the vaccine and a PIN code. Once that process is completed, registrants will receive the COVID-19 vaccination information listed on their paper proof of vaccination and a scannable QR code to prove that the vaccine record is authentic.
An FAQ on the site also promises privacy, assuring those concerned that only you can decide how and if you want to share your record with others. And for anyone concerned that this is a vaccine passport, the FAQ also ensures that the state will not be implementing a mandatory passport system. Theres also more information on how to correct the information and how to find a missing record on the site.
Earlier this week, California Gov. Gavin Newsom assured that the system is not a passport or a verification requirement akin to New Yorks equivalent, known as the Excelsior Pass.

If you submit the simple online form to CDPH they issue you a digital copy AND a QR code
That QR code thingy is next to impossible to forge and may become the gold standard going forward

may not want to call that a electronic vaccine passport, but it is an electronic vaccine passport.

(36,478 posts)Why are the republicans dragging their feet on this simple nonpartisan issue?
is already on the record stating there will be no federal government 'vaccine passport', but everybody else can go for it.

(50,566 posts)I already filed mine with the state. Three of the things they want to know are the brand of vaccine you got, the vaccine batch number(s) you received, and the name(s) of the provider(s) where you got the shots.
So, if you claim to have received batch numbers AB1245 and BC2345 of Pfizer vaccine from Mercy Hospital in Cleveland, Pfizer didn't make those two batches, and Mercy Hospital didn't get the two batches of whoever did make them, they'll catch you.
