Wonderful news re my son's stem cell donation to our brother in law

Last edited Thu Jul 8, 2021, 01:26 PM - Edit history (1)

After a very rough couple of weeks I’m delighted to report that my brother in law is making white cells and neutrophils like crazy and went home today! It’s still a long road to recovery and we’re all hoping he stays clear of infection while his immune system regenerates, but so far he’s right on course. We’re ecstatic! Thanks everyone for the good vibes and support. IMO good news for one of us is heartening for us all.

Edit to add: I didn’t actually cry til his wife told me the staff gathered and he rang the bell on his way out. HE RANG THE BELL! You who’ve had experience with cancer know what a powerful thing that is.

the volunteers who had experimental surgeries that made this day possible.

So glad to hear the procedure is working. My hope for continued progress.

Has your son had any problems from his donation?

And he’s a family hero. I’m so stinkin’ proud of him. I know it would have been impossible to refuse but he did it with generosity and grace, and not a bit of hesitation.
