From her campaign website:
Dr. Gillian Battino has dedicated her lifes work to bettering the world and continues that commitment every day.
Gillian spent 20+ years serving the people of Wisconsin and helping women in the fight against breast cancer. She has seen, up close and personal, the difference that access to quality health care can make. Just before she turned 2, her dad passed away suddenly due to complications from an untreated childhood disease untreated because his family couldnt afford health care. Then, when she was 9 years old, her brother Tom was born more than three months premature. He spent the first 3 months of his life in the NICU, requiring numerous life-saving surgeries. Gillian knew then that she wanted to be a doctor, so she could help people be their happiest, healthiest selves.
Through more than 20 years in medicine and public health, Dr. Battino has proven her commitment to public service, integrity, honesty, and accountability. Gillian developed and oversaw breast cancer screening programs in some of the most impoverished nations in the Western Hemisphere. Recently, she fought for mothers and children during the Zika epidemic in Nicaragua and Guyana. Throughout her practice, she saw that providing medical care alone wasnt enough to help every person be their healthiest, happiest self, because of injustices inside and outside the health care system. In her daily conversations with patients, they often told her they were more terrified of financial ruin than breast cancer. Now, Dr. Battino is ready to advocate for all Wisconsinites with the dedication and tenacity she gives her patients.

Dr. Battino is profoundly committed to advancing equity through innovation, empowerment, and leadership development. She focused her work on developing respectful, compassionate, and ethically sound coalitions to better represent those who have been underserved in our society.
In addition to her medical and professional work, Dr. Battino raised a family of 6 children in Wausau, Wisconsin with her husband of 25 years, Benjamin Battino, MD. As a mother, doctor, and public health advocate, Dr. Battino has demonstrated the real-world experience and empathy needed to represent Wisconsin in the United States Senate.

(102,214 posts)I honestly think he is mentally unwell. That said, it does not make him any less dangerous.
I hope Dr. Battino can prevail.

The look in his eyes - reminds me of someone overindulging in booze.

(18,122 posts)I'm worried about her lack of political experience. Check out Tom Nelson and Mandela Barnes, who are also running.

(3,577 posts)Sarah Godlewski is another great candidate. She was elected state treasurer and brought that post back to life after her Republican predecessor made the office so ineffectual that he wanted it to be abolished.

(6,623 posts)Not a fan of rookies running for US Senate as their first foray into elected office.
When a number of Dems were in primary for Governor in 2018, their unity in exposing Wanker's record helped get eventual candidate Tony Evers elected.

And cmon Sinema and Mansion, do some critical thinking for a change. The time is NOW.
