Man who refused to wear mask on flight fined $10,500

July 8, 2021

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A man who refused to wear a mask on an Allegiant flight departing from Utah has been fined $10,500.

The passenger refused to wear a mask over his mouth and nose on the Feb. 27 flight from Provo, Utah, to Mesa, Arizona, the Federal Aviation Administration said Tuesday. Flight attendants said they instructed the man to wear his mask properly seven times, but he removed it each time they walked away.

The FAA said when the passenger was asked to cooperate, he argued with the flight attendant, refused to provide identification and said he would continue pulling his mask down.

The passenger approached a flight attendant after the flight landed and touched her, the agency said. The FAA said he then got close to her and complained to her about her enforcement of the policy, which intimidated the flight attendant and made her cry.

To most $10,000 would leave a mark and I hope he is one of them and enjoys his freedom when he explains to his spouse/children why money is extra tight.

Hopefully if he doesn’t then it can go to collections and mess up his credit…this is the only way I see him actually paying it if he knows it will mess up his credit

Notify police to meet them at the gate once the plane lands. Once the word gets out of arrests being made this crap will stop.

Americans are getting more stupid by the minute. It used to boggle my mind but not anymore. In fact I predicted tRump's 2016 win for this very reason. Americans are dumber than dirt and they have gotten worse over the past 4 years. The fucking moron gave them the feeling of power and encouraged their hatred. Now they feel free to expose their truer selves...which is their clutching of the most stupid, hate filled BS I have ever heard in my 59 years.

10. It is the Global Dumbining.

Seriously, I foresaw the Global Dumbining coming when I witnessed a rabbit and a ground feeding bird run around the same corner and into each other about 10 years ago. They fell back on their haunches, shook their heads, and stared at each other like they didn't know what to do.

So, it's not limited to humans.

If this goes on much longer, I might seem... SMART! Horrors!

11. BS I haven't heard in my 71 years. Well, except certain places in the South.

Having made California my home when I was 20, I was certain for a number of decades later those quaint southern regions had evolved, more hip and more enlightened. I knew people were making money and relocating there, like North Carolina, Georgia and South Carolina.

Turns out that was a major mistaken assumption. I just didn't know how wide spread that ignorance had flourished.

Way beyond the southern borders and regions.

12. I used to pass through what has become the I-10 corridor fairly regularly.

At least once a year from the late '70s through the end of the '90s.

Except for a few places, which I knew and avoided. I thought the situation looked better, too. (Far from perfect, though.)

But, now... What happened? The ugliness has never been as wide spread as it is now.

because I haven't traveled back enough to really glean first hand. Just reports on line, conversations with friends, family, new acquaintances etc. Things are unrecognizable from reports of family friends.

it's both sad and scary.

the captain is the ultimate figure on a airplane , like a ship and he can call the shots to the point of hancuffed and locked in the bathroom. i guess policiy says not to confront these kens an karins but have local athorities deal with it. what happened to the on board air marshals?
